Government Schemes
Recently, the Union Minister of crude oil and fossil fuel &
Steel presidedover a virtual ceremony during which variety of initiatives were
launched to produce majorfillip to the SATAT initiative.

A
Cooperation Agreement was signed by Oil and Gas majors together with Indian
Oil,HPCL, BPCL, GAIL and IGL, for the promotion and development of the SATAT.

The
Cooperation agreement provides for establishing a powerful network formarketing
the complete created quantity of CBG Plants through varied channels.
SATAT scheme
·
It was
launched in 2018 by the Ministry of crude oil & natural gas in
associationwith Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., bharat petroleum Corporation Ltd.
and HindustanPetroleum Corporation Ltd.
·
It
envisages targeting production of fifteen MMT of CBG from 5000 plants by 2023.
·
It aims to
set up Compressed Bio-Gas production plants and create CBG accessible inthe
marketplace for use as a green fuel.
Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG)

Bio-gas is
made naturally (through a method of anaerobic decomposition) fromwaste /
bio-mass sources like agriculture residue, cattle dung, sugarcane pressmud,
municipal solid waste, sewage treatment plant waste, etc.

After
purification, its compressed and known as CBG, that has high methanecontent.
·
It is
exactly like the commercially accessible fossil fuel in its composition
andenergy potential.
·
It will be
used as an alternate, renewable automotive fuel with similar calorificvalue and
alternative properties just like CNG.
